The Sanderson Foundation provides the needed support for the Sanderson High School to have the greatest impact on its students and the community. While the PTO focuses on programs for the students and teachers, the Foundation focuses on addressing strategic funding gaps to support:
Teachers - supplementing staff levels and providing key resources to enhance teacher success
Technology - funding systems or equipment to extend the capabilities of the school
Facilities - extending county resources to accelerate capital improvements for the school
To support the 2023-2024 school year, the Foundation has funded:
Facility upgrades to the school entrance and east building
Flexible learning furniture for classrooms
Mobile air conditioner units
DeltaMath platform for the math department
Updated teaching materials for the science department
Additional teacher hours for new course design and planning
The funds needed for the student-led TED Talk-style Senior Talk program
In previous years, the Foundation has supported a variety of school needs, including the following:
Flexible learning furniture for multiple classrooms
Water fountain adapters to accommodate water bottle filling functions
Racial equity training for Sanderson staff
Projectors in the media center for student and faculty use
Campus renewal and beautification initiatives, including power washing the building and improving the external landscaping of the school
Covid modifications, including office plexiglass shields and other PPE
Additionally, foundation involvement and leadership has led to the funding of the following needs through county or other resources:
Smart TVs for a majority of classrooms
Central air conditioner repairs
Increased mental health support for Sanderson students
A summer bridge program to support incoming freshman who may be at academic risk has received COVID relief funds
Sanderson Foundation Mission: To develop a strong and inclusive school community
and an excellent educational environment by funding major initiatives so that all Sanderson students may grow, thrive, and realize their greatest potential.
