Cyndi Soter O’Neil

President and Board Chair

Beginning as a high school English teacher and now an early childhood education advocate, Cyndi has worked in and around public education for most of her professional career. An almost native North Carolinian, she moved to Raleigh in 2002 with her husband, Patrick. They are the parents of two future Sanderson graduates, class of 2023 and 2026.

Brian Mock

Treasurer

Brian is a Sanderson class of 1989 graduate and has lived in Raleigh since entering the Wake County School System as a kindergartener. He has served in several fundraising and volunteer leadership roles including Treasurer of the Brooks Foundation.

 
 

millan edmondson

Secretary

Millan has lived in Raleigh for over 20 years. She and her husband, Jason, are the parents of two Sanderson students, class of 2024 and 2027. Millan served as treasurer of the Brooks Elementary School PTA and was one of the founders and treasurer of the Brooks Elementary School Foundation. She has worked in the non-profit industry and currently serves on the Better Homes for NC board. She is vice-president of a CPG brand focusing on business development and marketing.

 

Chuck Underwood

Director, Fundraising Committee Chair

Chuck is  life-long resident of Raleigh, and is the parent of a Class of 2026 Sanderson student. Through his company Metro, he has worked with a wide variety of non-profit organizations and he volunteers on a number of local boards. Chuck is passionate about the transformative power of education to improve communities.

 

Emily Nelson

Director, Communications Committee Chair

Emily is new to Sanderson. Her son is a freshman and part of the 2026 class. She has years of professional marketing experience, is a middle school tennis coach, a published author, serves on the board of Camp Oak Hill, and is a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Outside of work she can be found spending time with her husband, two sons, three fur balls, friends, reading, or playing tennis. 

 
 

Henry DeHart

Director

Henry and his wife Ana have lived in Raleigh for over ten years. They both work in the non-profit fields and are passionate about youth development. They have two Sanderson students, class of 2022 and class of 2024.

Jason Cunningham

Director

Jason was born and raised in Raleigh.  He and his wife Alice have 3 children.  Their oldest is in the class of 2026.  Jason served as treasurer of the Douglas PTA and was one of the founders and president of the Douglas Foundation.  He is an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican church where he has served as treasurer and as a member of the vestry. He has a financial planning business located in downtown Raleigh.

 

Amy Moreau

Director

Amy is a Sanderson class of ‘88 graduate who has been working with adolescents in our community for the past 30 years. She is also the parent of two Sanderson students, class of 2020 and 2024.  She is currently involved with several local projects tackling social and economic divisions in our community, and helping students connect across those divides.

Rod Webb

Director

Rod is a Sanderson class of ‘88 graduate. He is also the parent of three Sanderson students, class 2019, 2021 and 2024. Rod serves on the boards of Triangle Family Services and the YMCA of the Triangle’s Y Achievers program. He has also served on the boards of the YMCA of the Triangle, Wake Education Partnership, and Wake County Community Foundation.  Rod has also been active in leading the Wake Forest University Alumni Council as president and as a gubernatorial appointee to the North Carolina Education and Workforce Commission. 

 
 

Tara Drouhard

Sanderson High School Principal, Ex Officio Director

The principal of Sanderson High School serves as an ex officio non-voting member of the Sanderson Foundation Board in order to assure that the Foundation’s mission and fundraising goals align with the most significant needs of the school.

PTO President, Ex Officio Director

Mitzi is a youth development specialist and professor at NC State University, a position she's held for 28 years. She's an NC Education Policy Fellow and an Institute For Emerging Issues (IEI) Faculty Fellow. Mitzi and her husband Clay are the proud parents of one Sanderson student, class of 2025.
